	New installations of the TorkStar TS1000 Utility Lineset Wing space is limited and storage is at a premium at the heritage Royal Theatre in Victoria , BC . Without space on stage to store the new Steinway D9 grand piano, the Royal & McPherson Theatres Society (RMTS) has implemented a custom designed Tork Winch hoisting system to fly the piano on a steel storage sled. When not in use the piano is rolled on the sled and hoisted, by the turn of a key switch, some 25 feet above the stage deck. Situated directly under the stage left fly floor, the piano is stored well out of the way, allowing maximum wing usage. With a TS3600 gear motor and direct coupled PS500 Posi-spools at the core of the system, the more than 2,000lb load is easily managed. The unique Posilok feature of the PS500 spools also allows the lifting and static storage of the sled and piano to be done in compliance with Ministry of Labour requirements. The Tork Winch piano storage hoist has been purchased for the Royal Theatre by the RMTS from dealer Christie Lights of Vancouver. The installation was designed and supervised by Steve Shortt.
